Monsignor Creager was born 11/1/1879 in Springfield, Ohio.
He studied Philosophy and Theology at Mt. St. Mary of the West
Seminary, Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was ordained a priest on September 16, 1910 at St. Peter
in Chains Cathedral, Cincinnati, Ohio by Archbishop Henry Moeller.
On October 11, 1910 he was appointed Assistant Pastor at St.
Patrick Church, Cincinnati, in Cumminsville. January 14, 1911
he became assistant pastor at Holy Name Church, Mt. Auburn,
Cincinnati, OH. He was named assistant pastor at St. Mary Church,
Marion, Ohio, on June 30, 1912.
On May 2, 1913 he was appointed pastor of St. Joseph Parish,
La Rue and its missions: Our Lady of Lourdes in Ada, and St.
Lawrence in Caledonia.
He became pastor of St. Andrew Parish in Milford, Ohio on
4/5/1919, and under his direction the “new” St.
Andrew Church at 552 Main St in Milford was constructed and
solemnly dedicated in June, 1923.
He was assigned as pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Cincinnati,
Ohio on September 9, 1946. He was made a member of Diocesan
consulters in January, 1948, and in January, 1949 was raised
to the dignity of Domestic Prelate with title of Right Reverend
Monsignor.
Monsignor Creager passed away at St. Francis Hospital on Saturday,
February 22, 1958. Funeral services were held at St. Patrick
Church, with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.
